I know the number of my family or friends who like or use guns are few, but I came across the following article online the other day. I thought it would be interesting and instructive for those who do. And frankly, given the amount of gun handling I’m doing nowadays–no, not because I’m working in the church as a pastor, shame on you, but because I’m working on my cowboy fast draw and spinning skills–it seemed not only helpful but important that I personally get up to speed. Welcome to Oregon’s first Cowboy Fast Draw club and to Oregonfastdraw.com. We’re a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC), promoting the sport of fast draw within Oregon. With shooters active in both the Cowboy Fast Draw Association and the World Fast Draw Association, we keep the individual shooter foremost in our mind.

How do we do that? Consider this. How many shooters does it take a light bulb? The answer? Twenty. One shooter to change the light bulb and nineteen to tell you how they would have changed the light bulb had they been given the opportunity. Too many shooting clubs are mired in the mud of membership squabbles and disputes. Oregon Fast Draw is one of the country’s newest and most affordable shooting organizations. Because the club’s leadership listens to the membership, and ultimately wants to involve all of its members in club affairs and activities, it’s a different kind of shooting organization.

Send your dues to the National Rifle Association. Support the World and Cowboy Fast Draw Associations with your time and money. But count on the friendships you develop here in Oregon’s Cowboy Fast Draw clubs. The folks who are inviting you to shoot with them–the Orygun Gunfighters in Forest Grove, Oregon and the Fort Dalles Defenders in The Dalles Oregon, are great people! They’re interested in you, and just as interested–believe it or not–in your shooting well and regularly.

Oregon Fast Draw, LLC is owned by Dr. Gregg E. Townsley, a shooter just like you. A fanatic about everything cowboy and western–he thinks watching Lonesome Dove is therapy and recommends watching the six-hour made-for-television movie at least once a year–Townsley is a former pastor, martial arts teacher and businessman, whose professional resume is located here.
